Go tech-free for one evening

5 things to do when you’re going tech-free for an evening #SimonSaysChallenge

This week as part of the #simonsayschallenge, we’re tasking you with going tech-free for one evening. The blue light emitted from our devices particularly at nighttime can disrupt our sleep patterns and concentration levels which contributes to fatigue and our overall mood. Ideally you should switch off from all devices an hour before bedtime so why not give this challenge a try and see how it affects your sleep.

While you’re unplugging, why not try an alternative activity to take your mind off what notifications you might be missing.

Here are our top 5;

  • Cook up a storm – put the phone down, dig out your recipe book and rustle up a tasty treat to reward yourself for succeeding at going tech-free. If you’re stuck for inspiration, check our recipes on site and jot one down to try ahead of switching off your devices
  • Family time – pull out a board game and gather family members together for a game of scrabble or pictionary. Time will whizz by and you’ll get to engage in some lovely family bonding
  • Just dance! – gather your fave cds or records and have a much-needed dance around your room. Not only will it release some much needed endorphins but will also remind you of some of your favourite golden oldie songs
  • Jot it down – grab your journal or notebook and just write. It could be some creative writing, a gratitude diary or a to do list for the week. Whatever it is, you’ll feel much better seeing it all written out in front of you
  • Fresh air – providing it’s not raining, get out within your 5K and get your steps in. The fresh air will do you the world of good and have you nicely set up for a good night’s sleep
